Applications for the post Master's Degree in Mineral Resources Industries (MS MIRIS)are now open. To apply, download aplication form and return it with the required supporting documents to resp_miris@geosciences.mines-paristech.fr. Recruitment is based on 5 years' higher education or only 3 years' higher education with 3 years' professional experience in the mining sector. The official language of the MS is English with a TOEIC level of between 550 and 784 points. If your file is complete, it will be sent to the educational manager for evaluation.

The scholarships offered by the Mineral Industry and Territorial dynamic Chair


The ITM Chair offers 4 scholarships of excellence per year to enable mining industry executives or young graduates, as a means of social promotion, to follow a professional training in one of the following courses:
  • Post master degree MIRIS, « Mineral Resources Industry and Society » 
  • Post master degree 2EM, « Mining operation and environment »  
  • Master M2-STPE, « Master 2, earth and planetary sciences (STPE), major in « Mining and risk engineering » 
Apply for a scholarship Send an application for the chosen course directly to the course director. If you are accepted and the course director sends you a letter of acceptance, then you can send a scholarship application to bourses@industrie-minerale-territoires.fr

The file must contain the following elements

A letter of acceptance to the program and a curriculum vitae
A letter of motivation of two to three pages, justifying:
  • the motivations for following the program of their choice; 
  • the need for financial support; 
  • an initial academic excellence; 
  • a professional background (if applicable); 
  • a presentation of their future professional project and how the chosen program will help them in this project.

The scholarships awarded by the Chair cover only the pedagogical costs of training. The students who will benefit from it will be exempted from these fees at the time of their registration. The registration fees and all travel and accommodation expenses remain entirely at their own expense. 
 
The deadline for applications is May 31 of the current year for enrollment in the following school year. Candidates selected by the selection panel will be informed by email by June 30th at the latest.

MIRIS Session 2020-2021
For the session 2020-2021, the MS MIRIS welcomed 11 students of 9 different nationalities: Afghanistan, Algeria, Cameroon, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Gabon, Guinea, Madagascar, Morocco. After the common core courses in Fontainebleau which will end at the end of January 2021, 7 of them will stay in Fontainebleau to follow the courses of option 1 (Mining operations) while 5 will go to Nancy to follow the courses of options 2 (Exploration and deposit modelling) and 3 (Ore processing and beneficiation). The training started with the traditional "geology and mining" field course in Occitania: geological structures of the Arc de St Chinian and the Montagne Noire, redevelopment of the coal mines of Graissessac, visit of the Imerys talc quarry in Luzenac. The students then followed courses on sampling and economic evaluation of mining projects. They have just started one of the essential modules of the training devoted to environmental, social and human issues. The first part will run until the end of 2020 and will deal with environmental and social impact studies, relations between mines and territories, human and safety issues and will end with training in risk and crisis management.
